Bible Reading Plans

Remember those days before ministry while you basked in the sermons of great men and enjoyed the word? We do! We remember those days well. Since starting to work at the church, it has become increasingly difficult to stay in the Word. It's a struggling in ministry to read the Bible!

Ligonier ministries puts a number of Bible plans out each year. You can find their plan HERE.
Syler is currently trying to devotionally read the Bible through what he is teaching. While not always recommended, some times ya gotta do it!

ESV Online is where Matthew generally goes for Bible reading plans. They have a couple easy plans that will send you email reminders etc. You can find those HERE.

What is a Bible reading plan?
Various plans that structure reading over a period of time. The varieties of options are unlimited! Different translations, different speeds are just a couple of options for you. If you don't have a lot of time, there is a plan for you.

What do you think the frequency of Bible reading should be?
Different people are at different places. If you have never read the Bible, get an app that will send you a verse. If you have read a verse for awhile, grab the text and read a paragraph. If you have been reading a paragraph for some time, it is time to go varsity... read more. Make the sacrifice. Christians should be IN THE WORD.

Spiritual Disciplines for a Christian Life by Donald S. Whitney is the name of the book and author Syler was searching for!

Intake of the Bible daily is reasonable and necessary for each Christian. If you take in any other media at any point in the day you have time to take in some Scripture. You can. You really can.

Why should we be reading the Word?
The Word keeps our heads screwed on straight. We don't want to fall off the rails. Staying faithful to the end is found in the Word. Aside from this, the Scriptures are letters from our Maker worth cherishing. Do you want to understand the big picture? Study His letters to you. Listen to his testimony of faithfulness in the lives of those who are in the Scriptures.

New believers: Read Genesis through Revelation some time soon. Read it as a testament of God to his people. It helps.

Much grace.
